Revolutionary Water Tanks of Combined Technologies For Municipal, and Private Applications

Reservoirs having a geomembrane liner with floating cover type "roofs" represent the most cost efficient water containment method for protecting precious water resources.
Where limited space and/or costly land situations exist and where additional security is required; reservoirs, like tall buildings in dense cities, go vertical and tank type construction is chosen. Layfield Environmental Systems Corp. has introduced geomembranes into tank technology in a very unique manner that combines tanks with reservoirs. Instead of flat concrete or metal floors, traditional tank bottoms can be replaced with excavated basins that are lined with a geomembrane for vastly increased storage capacity.

ECONOSTORE® tanks do away with traditional rigid tank roofs and their intricate support structures by replacing them with water-tight mechanically tensioned floating covers of geomembrane construction. ECONOSTORE® floating tank covers are provided with effective storm water drainage systems. They are constructed with high performance geomembranes manufactured with inert resins and non-nutritive surfaces providing safe water containment available at very reasonable costs. Floating cover and floor membranes are corrosion resistant, warranted against the effects of weathering for 20-30 years and do not require re-coating. Unlike concrete, they can absorb considerable differential settlement and/or seismic activity without cracking.

Tank walls are of first quality Glass 97 coated steel designed to give a superior porcelain-like corrosion resistant surface minimizing maintenance and maximizing durability like stainless steel, but at a far lower cost. Individual wall panels can be replaced in as little as three hours. Graffiti can be removed with solvents without damage to the tank wall finish. Tank wall to geomembrane floor transitions are time proven water-tight attachment details. A variation of the ECONOSTORE® system is the ENVIROSTORE® tank system that differs by having a geodesic aluminum roof. Another interesting design feature typical to both systems is the piping attachment details. Pipes are attached through the flexible geomembrane floor. Any size of pipe can be attached at minimal cost. Seismic advantages are also gained through these systems. Having pipes connected in the manner previously described greatly reduces the risk of damage at connections due to seismic activity. Another advantage is the cross section profile of the tank systems. The reservoir style tank bottoms have sloping perimeter grades that can act to attenuate wave action caused by seismic disturbance.

Since much of the storage capacity is below ground, the overall visual impact of these tanks are greatly reduced over conventional style tanks. Layfield Environmental Systems Corp. tank systems provides truly unique low maintenance potable water storage that are very cost competitive with other types of storage alternatives.

Layfield Environmental Systems Corp. has proven that geomembrane technology used in tank type construction can significantly reduce investment and maintenance costs, making effective potable water storage tanks considerably more affordable. Tank sizes range between 1 and 44 million gallons.  We have other tank offerings for smaller storage requirements.
